About Us
Sakaad is a child company of Curio Africana Expo International. Started in Kenya, Curio Africana Expo International has been in business since 1980. The owner Mary Njogu, also my mother, has been working with the women since the company's inception. We started out selling sell bags handmade by women in Kenya. Over the years we have expanded our efforts to assist artists market their craft. Our mission is simple, to provide quality products at reasonable prices so as to generate income for the people that make the products we carry.
Sakaad started in September 2003. We did our first craft show at the famous Eastern Market in Washington DC. Since then we have attended craft and street festivals as far north as Fairfield, Connecticut to as far south as New Orleans, Lousiana. We are now currently pursuing the expansion of our customer base through other vendors and stores. We always will remain true to the purpose of our company - great products for a worthy cause.
